GREETINGS AGENT

Blaseball is a game about organising. It’s a game about mobilising our communities and working together towards a common goal, even in the face of adversity and cruel gods with power far above our own.

Over the past year, the Bureau of Unity, a collection of Blaseball Fans in the Industrial Workers of the World, have run four introductory workshops on how to organise a union in your workplace. We’ve helped members of the Blaseball community take the first steps towards organising their workplace and local communities. So far, fan response has been overwhelmingly positive.

ORGANISE YOUR WORKPLACE!

The Bureau of Unity will be running another five-hour trade union organisation training workshops on Wednesday the 2nd of February, at 18:00 UTC, with the aim of giving an introduction to the skills needed to organise your workplace.

Unionisation can seem daunting at first. Our goal is to demystify the concept and give firm advice on how to get started and what to expect from collective action at work so that you can begin to take steps in organising your own workplace.

This is an entirely out-of-game operation. It’s not roleplay, we’re actually learning how to form a union in our workplace.

You will learn how to begin mapping your workplace, how to talk to your fellow workers about starting a union, what to do when you have a workplace committee up and running, and more! The training is based on the Industrial Workers of the World’s OT101 course, and is delivered by volunteers from the Blaseball community alongside accredited trainers from the IWW.

WHAT DO I NEED?

You will need some way to take notes and speakers/headphones. A microphone would be helpful, as there will be some roleplay and group discussion activities.

DATA AND PERSONAL INFORMATION

As organisers we understand that maintaining the safety of our fellow workers is imperative. Should you have any concerns or worries about your personal info or data, please reach out to us directly at blaseworkshop@gmail.com

CONTENT WARNINGS

While we want this training to be inclusive, as a natural consequence of discussing workplace organising we may mention heavy topics such as workplace abuse, sexual harrassment or our previous experiences with workplace discrimination as queer workers. Please be advised that the workshop will likely include these topics.
